Abstract

We suggest that the reported noise rise phenomenon oberserved in Josephson oscillators can be understood in terms of the full non-linear and deterministic junction dynamics. We show that the driven damped pendulum equation describing the junction behavior exhibits chaotic solutions associated with the appearance of strange attractors in phase space. These results are relevant to the general problem of turbulent behavior in anharmonic systems.
